LICENSING
Adroit software is in most cases licensed using a so called HASP, a USB memory stick like device which holds the licensing information.
The HASP is handy in that it can be ported from a computer to a computer, so in the case of malfunction of computer hardware, the license is unnaffected.
The license is typically purchased based on the amount of datasource elements required. they are called the scan points. A scan point can be a value read from an energy meter or a programmable controller, for example. An ON/OFF signal is also considered a scan point. However Adroit offers a feature whereby 16 ON/OFF values can be packed in one analog value, thus saving 15 scan points out of 16. Licenses come in the following increments in terms of scan points:30; 75; 150; 300; 750; 1500; 2500; 5000; 15000; 25000; 50000
An Adroit installation can be further expanded in 5000 scan point increments. However, the hardware should follow the increased number of scan points. As of Adroit SCADA Version 10 the licensing has progressed in that the HASP now contains a lot more information like the HTML based dashboards, more specialized drivers etc. An upgrade to version 10 requires a so called "Green HASP". SOFT LICENSE Instead of using the HASP it is possible to obtain a soft license which is tied up to the computer hardware. In such cases the license cannot be ported to another machine.
